2009 Eco-tourism survey

A recently completed survey of professionals in the ecotourism and sustainable travel industry by ClimatePath revealed that while sustainable travel industry professionals generally support offsetting, travelers remain skeptical. Standards, greater transparency, and a focus on projects oriented towards the destinations and communities where travel occurs were seen as needed, while the cost of offsets was not seen as a primary barrier.
